Making a complaint about the Living with Mum Program
If you are being unfairly or unlawfully asked to leave the Living with Mum Program, there are steps you can take. These include:
- Complain to the General Manager at your prison
- Complain to the Deputy Commissioner
- Complain to an external complaint body
Scroll down for more information on each option.
Complain to the General Manager at your prison
You can make a complaint about the LWM program to the General Manager at your prison.
For more information on the best way to do this, see the Making a complaint section on the home page.
Important: If you make a complaint to someone working at your prison, you should make it in writing and keep a copy of any response you get.
Complain to the Deputy Commissioner
You can make a complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of Custodial Operations about any decisions made in the LWM Program, including a decision to terminate your participation. You can write to the Deputy Commissioner at:
Deputy Commissioner, Custodial Operations
Corrections Victoria
Level 22, 121 Exhibition Street
Melbourne, VIC 3000
Important: If you make a complaint to someone at Corrections Victoria, you should make it in writing and keep a copy of any response you get.
Complain to an external complaint body
If you have already tried making a complaint to the prison or Corrections Victoria and either didn’t get a response, or weren’t happy with the response you got, you want to make a complaint to an external complaint body.
There are different external complaint bodies that deal with different types of issues.
If you want to make a complaint about LWM program workers or Corrections Victoria decisions, you can make a complaint to the Victorian Ombudsman.
If you want to make a complaint about healthcare staff you saw through the Living with Mum Program, you can make a complaint to the Health Complaints Commissioner.
For more information on how to make a complaint to external complaint bodies, see the Making a complaint section on the home page.
