Inter-prison phone calls

You can call someone in another prison if you have a long-standing close personal relationship. This would usually be a partner or family member.

These are called inter-prison phone calls.

The rules about inter-prison phone calls come from Part 4.2.1 of the Commissioner’s Requirements.

You can apply to the General Manager for an inter-prison phone call. When you make your application, you should include information to show you have a long-standing close personal relationship.

If you are approved, you can have a maximum of two 12-minute calls per week with the person in another prison. These will be at a pre-arranged time.
