Parole

What is parole?

Parole is a process that allows some people in prison to serve part of their sentence in the community.

People on parole are expected to comply with certain conditions in the community, work with a parole officer and stay out of trouble. If they don’t, they could be sent back to prison to finish their sentence.

Not everyone is eligible for parole, and it doesn’t happen automatically. There is a parole application process to follow.
