Separation
Summary: Your rights and the laws that apply when you’re in segregation or in management and high security.
Corrections Victoria uses the term ‘separation’ when they are talking about any situation where a person is separated from other people in prison. This section focuses on situations when you are separated from everyone else in prison – either in segregation or management and high security.
Separating you from other people in prison is very serious and limits important human rights. Separation is only allowed to happen in certain circumstances, and it must follow the relevant laws and rules. There are minimum rights that apply to all people in prison, even when they are in management and high security.
